Servant Songs of Isaiah
At the time of Christ's birth the Jewish people were eagerly awaiting a messiah, the messiah that had been promised to them many times in the Old Testament. Yet when the Messiah came they didn't recognize Him because they were expecting a very different kind of messiah than the one they were promised.

But this is not just an error that was made by the Jewish religious leaders 2000 years ago. Every week millions upon millions of people go to church looking for a messiah different from the one promised, portrayed, and displayed in Scripture. They come looking for a messiah who will fix their marriage, or put their career on track or fill their bank account, and they miss out on something much greater.

There are four key passages in Isaiah, 42:1-9, 49:1-13, 50:4-11 and 52:13-53:12, that told the Jews what kind of Messiah was coming, and what He would do and these passages tell us what kind of Messiah came and what He has done.

We are going to look at these passages verse by verse so that we know what kind of Messiah Christ is, then we are going to look at the Songs of Ascent, Psalms 120-134, that are all about preparing our hearts for worship. All to prepare us for a verse by verse study through the Gospel of John, where we will behold the power, beauty and majesty of Christ and His earthly ministry so that knowing Jesus is the Messiah you may have life in His name (John 20:30-31).
